Nov 24, 2015 I have used the Dev-Cpp compiler to show how to declare a function in a header file, then define it inside a cpp file, and use the function in a third cpp file. Dec 09, 2018 C header file is a normal C file that ends with.h extension. It contains function declarations and macros. There are two types of header file, one that we create based on our requirement and the other that ships with the C compiler. Separate Header and Implementation Files. In this section, we demonstrate how to make class reusable by separating it into another files. Class declarations are stored in a separate file. A file that contains a class declaration is called header file. The name of the class is usually the same as the name of the class, with a.h. C code files (with a.cpp extension) are not the only files commonly seen in C programs. The other type of file is called a header file. Header files usually have a.h extension, but you will occasionally see them with a.hpp extension or no extension at all. The primary purpose of a header file is to propagate declarations to code files. The class declaration goes into the header file. It is important that you add the #ifndef include guards, or if you are on a MS platform you also can use #pragma once. Also I have omitted the private, by default C class members are private.
